Principal Nicola Miles
FISTD Member and Registered Teacher of the RAD: DDE
Nicola is a fully qualified and experienced teacher of Ballet Modern Tap and National. Having trained at Bush Davis and locally, Nicola went on to take her Associates at Drusilla Duffill school in Burgess Hill and took her Licentiate and Fellowship exams also with Drusilla and Paddy Hurlings in Portsmouth.
Nicola has appeared on stage and on TV including many Pantomimes in Worthing, Reading, Basingstoke, Cambridge, Aylesbury, and Warwick. TV appearances include Noel Edmonds, Tenko, Mr Bean and Ever Decreasing Circles.
She has also choreographed shows all over England, an animation sequence for the El Nombre TV series and appeared in several TV commercials including one in Portugal and a documentary for German TV.
For the past 6 years she has choreographed Christmas Productions in Gloucestershire and in Tenbury Wells for the last 3 years including choreographing a Children’s Christmas Show in Eastbourne.
June Mitchell
MA B.Phil (Hons) FRAD ARAD LRAD LISTD
June Campbell Mitchell was awarded a Fellowship of the Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) on the 22ndJune 2004 for her dedicated services to Ballet and to the Academy. This prestigious award, rarely bestowed carries the letters FRAD.
June trained initially at the RAD in London after dancing professionally for some years. Her first teaching post was at Elmhurst Ballet School in Camberley, Surrey followed by a three year contract to Canada.
She returned to England to become a Grade /Vocational Graded Examiner for the RAD. She became a faculty member of the RAD College and was a prominent figure in the search for validation for the original BA degree course in the Art and Teaching of Classical Ballet.
In later years June gained a first degree in Philosophy and was then awarded a scholarship from Durham University for Postgraduate study. Alongside her many examining commitments she still includes weekly teaching at RAD headquarters and at schools in Surrey/Sussex.
Sarah Lidbetter
Ballet – LRAD, ARAD, AISTD
Sarah graduated from the Royal Academy of Dance ( LRAD ) in 1986. She freelanced in the South East region before taking up a contract in Brazil in 1987.
Whilst working at the Academia de Ballet da Bahia in Salvador, she taught Classical Ballet at all levels, participated in productions, and was involved in their choreography. On returning to the UK, Sarah took up a post at The Hammond School, Chester there upon becoming Dance Coordinator with special responsibility for the Associate Department and training of the Teaching Certificate of the RAD. In 1996 she qualified as a Grades Examiner and, after further training, as a Tutor for the RAD.
After Sarah married she returned to the South of England where she now freelances and has taught at the Nicola Miles Theatre Studios for 20 years.
Hannah Jeffery
Junior and Senior Modern and Tap – BA Hons
Hannah trained at Nicola Miles Theatre Studios in Ballet, Modern, Tap and Contemporary until the age of 18. She then studied at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music & Dance gaining a BA (Hons) in Dance Theatre. Hannah returned to West Sussex where she now teaches. She recently completed her ISTDDDE Modern Tap and Ballet.
Keeley Burriss
Junior Modern and Tap – BA Hons
After completing her BA Hons in Dance at Chichester University, Keeley taught dance in the community, working with a number of primary schools and youth services to provide creative dance classes for children aged 5-18 years old.
Keely later worked with her local Sure Start Centre, where she received training in the EYFS and provided music and moment groups for children under 5 years old, including many children with a range of SEN and disabilities.
Keeley is passionate that dance is for everyone and enjoys giving all children the opportunity to have fun while achieving their potential.
